Lush Cosmetics Butterball Bath Bomb Review

I've never been a bath person before. Until recently, I hadn't taken a bath since I was a child but now I love them. I don't even know how it started, just one day instead of having a shower, I had a bath, and that's when the obsession with bath bombs started. I started off with some that I found half price in my local pharmacy and then I moved on to some of the more expensive ones. So when I visited a Lush store in Cork over a month ago, I was dying to try one of their famous bath bombs for the first time and see what they were like.
lush cosmetics butterball bath bomb review
The bath bomb that caught my eye, well nose, was one called a Butterball. It was love at first smell. I didn't know any of the ingredients at the time, I just knew it smelt amazing, but it turns out that it was mainly a vanilla musky sort of scent, which is one of my absolute favourite scents on earth. That was pretty much what sold it. I didn't even read the little card in front of the pile of Butterballs otherwise, I would have found out that it also contains cocoa butter which melts in the bath and nourishes your skin, a major plus. Also, in case you didn't know, all Lush products are handmade and completely cruelty-free.

So how well did the bath bomb work? It was a pretty big bath bomb so I expected a lot from it. I had even read a review online where someone has said to only use half of it at a time otherwise your bath would become too slippy from the cocoa butter. I decided to go against her advice and use it all in one go. When I dropped the bath bomb in the bath, it foamed up pretty good and I could see the little pieces of cocoa butter coming out of it and floating on top of the water. The water didn't really change colour or anything which I am always hoping for when I use a bath bomb. As for the whole thing about only using half the butterball, I actually felt like I could have used more in my bath than the entire bath bomb. I didn't notice a very strong scent off the water or my skin afterwards which I would have liked because it was such a lovely scent.

On the plus side, as soon as I got in the bath, I could immediately feel the nourishing effects of the cocoa butter. Afterwards, my legs felt really soft as if I had applied a moisturiser which is so handy if you are in a rush and don't have time to apply any, or just feeling lazy. I like that this bath bomb is different to the typical bath bomb in that it has nourishing properties too. I feel like this is more of a grown-up's bath bomb, in that if you are looking for your bath to change colour and have lots of glitter, this isn't for you, but if you want a moisturising bath bomb with a light scent of vanilla musk, this is perfect.

Overall, I do like this bath bomb. I was a tiny bit disappointed because this was my first Lush bath bomb and I wanted it to have a bit more of an effect on my bath. Having said that, for what it is, I would buy it again and I absolutely love that it has the little chunks of cocoa butter in it. I don't normally give a star rating on this blog but for this bath bomb, I'd have to give it a 3/5 stars. It's really nice but I was expecting a tiny bit more from it. Here's a link to the Lush Cosmetics website in case you want to get this product or just find out more about the ingredients. Have you ever tried a Lush product before? I'd love to hear about it in the comment section below. Also, If you liked this post, please give it a love on Bloglovin or a +1 on Google Plus. I hope you are having a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

How to Get A Job at Benefit Cosmetics | The Interview Process

I thought that for today's post, I would let you know what goes on during the Benefit Cosmetics interview process to become a BeneBabe or Beauty Advisor. Whether you are just curious or you are planning on getting a job there, it's handy to know the different steps of the process, from when you hand in a CV/Resume to when you are offered a job. I've been through this process twice, one time where I didn't get the job and another where I did. (I will be focusing more on the second time around because it is most recent but I will also be comparing differences between the two experiences as I go along.) So here are the steps I went through:

STEP 1: Online Application/ Handing in a CV
This time around I heard about a job opening a Benefit from a friend of mine who knew the manager of a Benefit counter. They had already told her about me and she told them to get me to drop in a CV which I did. First time around, I think I just applied for an opening online.

STEP 2: Phone Interview
The next step, both times, is that you receive a phone call sometime after you have handed in your CV. This could be as soon as the day after or can be a few weeks later. I think both times that I got the phone call about 3 or 4 weeks later when I had assumed I wasn't going to be hearing from them. The first time I applied, the phone call was a phone interview where I was asked a bit about myself whether I was in college or working, my makeup application skills and why I wanted to work for Benefit. At the end of the phone interview, I was told a time and place where I would have to do an audition later that week. This time around, I had no phone interview, I was just told a time and a place for a sit-down interview, to wear black, and also that there might be an audition afterwards if they could get enough girls who were available that day (the other two girls who went to the audition said that they both had phone interviews before the sit down audition. I had missed Benefit's original call so I had to ring them back at about 5 or 6 so they probably didn't have time then to do a phone interview then).

STEP 3: Sit-down Interview
Anyway, on to the sit-down interview. I arrived at the Benefit counter about 5 mins early but the girl on the counter was busy. When she was finally free, she told me that my interviewer was across the road in a coffee shop waiting for me. I was a bit worried then because I only had like two minutes to get there before I would be late. I rushed across to the coffee shop and maybe was one or two minutes late which the interviewer didn't seem to notice. The person who interviewed me worked for Benefit and I think she was a regional recruiter or something, that she dealt with recruiting all the Benebabes in her region although she had a different job title as well. She was really lovely and friendly which made the interview go pretty smoothly. She asked me the usual questions like why I wanted to work for Benefit, along with my employment history, if I preferred working alone or in a team and then asked for specific example of things I had done in my previous jobs, eg. tell me about a time when you had a difficult customer and how you dealt with it?, Tell me about a time when you had to be sensitive to the needs of a customer? She also asked me about targets and how I felt about them and if I had worked with targets before. At the end of the interview, She told me I had gotten to the next stage and there would be an audition in a local Debenhams in a hours time.

STEP 4: The Audition
On to the worst and most daunting stage of the process; the audition. I had done it before, so I felt okay about it though I was still nervous. The first time I applied for the job, about five or six other girls and I arrived in Debenhams and were brought into a back room where we were shown five products that we needed to focus on selling on the shop floor later that day. I can't remember exactly what products they were but I think one was Benetint, and some others were the Porefessional, They're Real mascara and maybe a skin care product. The woman from Benefit in Debenhams told us some information about each product like what it did, some important ingredients and how to sell it which was pretty useful for the next stage. We were told to practice selling on each other for a while and then we were brought to the shop floor. On the shop floor, we were sent around to traffic stop people, which is basically where you approach customers who are shopping around Debenhams and get them to come back to the Benefit counter with you. We were told to approach them and ask if they had heard of Benefit before and then convince them to come and try out a few products at the counter. We then would show them the products one item at a time and apply it to their face while explaining the benefits of each item. In my first audition, I got about 5 or 6 people to come back to the counter and try out some products. I think I only managed to sell 1 product; a Porefessional. After about two and a half hours of traffic stopping and show people the products, I was told that I was unsuccessful and to go home.

My Second time around, the audition was a pretty different experience. It was just me and two other girls. This time we were pretty much thrown in at the deep-end. We arrived at the counter and we told all about traffic stopping and within a few minutes, we were sent out to find customers. I knew a lot about many of the products from using them myself and my previous experience so I was okay. This time around we only had 2 hours to do the audition, whereas the first time, they said it could be up to 4 hours. In the two hours, I brought several people back to do makeup on and sold 5 or 6 items so I was pretty confident afterwards that I might get the job. None of us were told to go home during the audition this time but we were told that we would find out in a week or two how we did.

STEP 5: Store Interview
About a week later, I got a phone call letting me know that I had gotten through to the next stage; a store interview. So if you were applying for a job in Debenhams, you would have to have an interview with the Debenhams store manager. I was given a time and place for my interview and told to wear black. I don't want to say which store my interview was in because it didn't go too great. Let's just say that this interview and my first one with the lovely, friendly woman from Benefit were like night and day. In this interview, I was asked a lot of the same questions again, eg. why do you want to work for Benefit?, what are your makeup application skills and experience? Looking back, the interview was actually fine, but I just got the feeling throughout that the interviewer didn't like me. Then there was an awkward moment at the end when she asked if I had any questions, and since I've heard that you should always ask a question at the end to show you are interested, I said yes. I tried to think for a second but couldn't come up with anything so had to then say I forgot my question like a bit of a fool. The interviewer didn't know when I would hear about the job because she said if would be Benefit who would be contacting me about it. So I went home and waited for a call.

Within a week I got a call from the lovely woman at Benefit offering me a job. It wasn't the permanent job I wanted, just a six-week one for Christmas but I decided to take it anyway because Benefit seems like such an amazing company to work for and I love all their products. Also, it's a great opportunity if you are looking to get into working with makeup. The woman from Benefit kind of hinted that it was my store interview that let me down, although the six-week job was in the same store so the interviewer couldn't have disliked me that much.

Anyway, that is my experience with the Benefit application process. I hope this was helpful if you have applied to work at Benefit or have an audition coming up. If you like this post, then make sure to love it on Bloglovin or give it a +1 on Google Plus. Also, if you aren't following my blog on Bloglovin yet then make sure to so you will see when I write new blog posts. I hope you are having a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

Lush Brazened Honey Fresh Face Mask Review

I haven't bought Lush products in a really long time because there isn't a Lush near me. When my friend and I planned a day trip to Cork recently, we made sure to go to their Cork store. I was really excited to buy some new bath bombs (which there might be a post on soon) but I also ended up getting a fresh face mask. In Lush, they have a thing where if you bring back 5 clean, full sized Lush pots that you used, you can get a fresh face mask free. My friend's sister had used about 15 pots so they said I could have one of the fresh face masks free because she didn't need 3 of them.

I was a bit lost when I was trying to pick out a face mask. I had never used a Lush face mask before so I hadn't a clue which one to go for. One of the girls who worked at Lush was really lovely and talked me through each one of the face masks, suggesting which ones would be good for my skin type. I have normal/combination skin (which is weird because I used to have pretty dry skin and I have no idea how it changed) so she recommended either a seaweed mask or their Brazened Honey mask, which is the one I went for. The honey mask is very exfoliating and is supposed to leave your skin looking fresh and radiant. It also has detoxifying properties. Here is the description that Lush gives of it:"Fresh fruits are blended with warming Ayurvedic herbs and spices, ground almonds to polish and moisturising honey."
You have to keep the face mask is the fridge and it is supposed to last about a month. The girl in the shop said I should get about six uses out of it but I've already used it four times and it isn't even half gone. It has quite a strong fresh smell which I like but my mom hates so it depends on your preference. You can just apply it to your face to clean and detoxify your skin or you can rub it in as you apply it and take it off to really exfoliate your skin. Although I got this one free, these fresh face masks usually retail at something like €9.95 for 75g, which initially sounds expensive but you do get at least six individual masks out of it.

You can apply it as thick as you like but I'd say you really only need a thin layer for it to work. I like to leave it on for about 15 minutes before I remove it (after it has dried and hardened). Once I have washed it off with warm water, my skin feels super soft and looks a lot clearer and brighter. My sister used it too and she loves it.
Overall, I really like this face mask. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, clean and really soft. I really like the scent and the feel of it on my skin (it's not gooey or a very watery consistency). The price could be better but you do get quite a bit of product for your money. After using this mask, I'm am looking forward to trying out some of their other ones, maybe the chocolate one next, although I'd probably eat some. What are the qualities you look for in a face mask? Let me know in the comment section below. I hope you are having a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

MUA Matte Lipstick Totally Nude Review

I've tried some nude lipsticks in the past but never really was a fan. The only one I really liked was MAC's Shy Girl which was sort of a peachy/pink toned nude lipstick. The completely nude lipsticks just sometimes look like you have foundation on your lips, I feel. So when I found this MUA lipstick in the colour totally nude (with a hint of a pinky tone running through it) in Superdrug for only €1.35, I thought I'd chance it and see what it was like.
The first thing I noticed is that I really liked the colour on my lips. It didn't make me look washed out or that I had foundation on my lips. The lipstick itself is quite creamy for a matte lipstick. After using other MUA lipsticks since this, I've noticed that some of them are quite light and don't last on the lips. This isn't the case with this one. It has a heavier feel to it than those ones so not only lasts quite a while but also has a pretty high pigment compared to their other lipsticks. What I love the most about this colour is that you can wear it with any makeup look or outfit. Although it has a pinky tone, it is pretty subtle so it doesn't look too girly or bright on the lips.
In terms of price, for just €1.35, you can't go wrong. Some of the other MUA lipsticks, I think are worth that price but, with this one I wouldn't mind paying €8 or €9 for it. I feel it is as good quality as a Rimmel lipstick or another brand that would cost a lot more. I also really like the simple white packaging and the way you can see the colour of the lipstick by the bottom of the tube without having to open it in case your looking for a colour in a hurry.

Overall, I really like this lipstick. From the colour to the quality to the price, everything about this lipstick seems really great. I can't really think of any bad aspects of this lipstick, other then maybe it's not the same quality as a MAC lipstick which is extremely understandable for a lipstick that only costs €1.35, but other than that I like everything about it. Have you ever tried an MUA lipstick before or has any cheap lipstick surprised you? Let me know in the comments below. I hope you are having a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

My Style Crush | Ariana Grande

I feel like I haven't been very fashionable lately. I've been mostly wearing what it comfortable and quick to put on. I'd love to be one of those people who always wears amazing, fashionable clothes but my main issue is being cold. I always seem to be cold so I end up just wearing hoodies or sweatshirts and still end up being cold. When I actually am having a good day in regards to fashion and makeup, the trends I love are over-sized shirts and jackets, and I'm literally obsessed with checked shirts wrapped around the waist. This is where Ariana Grande comes in. She rocks both of those looks along with some other great casual ones which I love. One of my favourite things about her style is that she makes casual outfits seem dressy by either adding a pair of killer heels or by her stunning hair and makeup. This is why she is my new style crush.

I really need to get one of those over-sized denim jackets, although I'm not sure if I would be able to pull it off. I love how Ariana uses denim so much in her style, whether it is her ripped or stonewashed jeans or one of her over-sized jackets. She always looks cool and stylish at the same time. What do you think? Do you like Ariana Grande's style or is it just not for you? Let me know in the comments below. Also, make sure to tell me who your current style crush is. I hope you are having a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Fixing Spray Review

Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Fixing Spray Review
Makeup Revolution are a really great brand for their affordable palettes, but how do their individual products measure up? I've tried one of their baked highlighters before and liked it but, quality-wise, it doesn't take much for a highlighter to work well. A setting spray, on the other hand, will quickly show if it works or not. It either makes your makeup stay in place longer or it doesn't. So when I bought the Makeup revolution Pro Fix Amazing Makeup Fixing Spray for €6.45, I was intrigued to see how well it worked.

Looking at the Pros of this setting spray first, it sprays like a light mist. It's not as if you are being sprayed full force in the face with water like it can feel with some other setting sprays. It also has a fairy nice scent and is not too overpowering. I like the packaging, just like with most of the other Makeup Revolution products. It has a classic, simple design. It is also travel-friendly and very easy to throw into your handbag when you are on the go without weighing you down too much. Sadly, I think those are all the pros I can come up with.

Onto the cons. I didn't see any difference in the lasting power of my makeup after using this setting spray. My foundation lasted the same amount of time without getting oily as it usually does. At the end of the night, my makeup didn't look any better than it would if I hadn't used any primer or setting spray. Also, for some reason this spray made my eye makeup run. I don't know why but a few of the times I used it my eye makeup started to run down my face a while after using it, and other times my makeup started to run as soon as I applied it. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong like applying it too close to my face but there was no difference when I held it even further away. It suggests that you use it at arms-length away from your face and that's what I did but it still made my makeup run.

I've basically stopped using this product because I haven't really found any benefit from using it. It actually made my makeup look worse instead of better. It kind of feels like a waste of money so I'll probably use it once in a while if I'm not going anywhere important just to use it up and see if I've changed my mind about it. I won't hold my breath for the day when I start to like it, though.

So that was my review of the Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Fixing Spray. It's a shame that it didn't work very well but I guess you can't expect that much from something that is so inexpensive. If you liked this post the please make sure to give it a love on Bloglovin or a +1 on Google Plus. I hope you have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

A Little Progress | New Year's Resolutions Update

a-little-progress-each-day-adds-up-to-big-results
Source
Now that we are nearing the end of January, I think I should reflect a bit on my new year's resolutions. Here's my blog post of what my new year's resolutions are this year in case you missed it. Looking back on that post, I think some of my goals have shifted already. My main goal at the moment, which wasn't really a new year's resolution, is to lose the 6 pounds that I gained over Christmas. This has been my main focus for the past week and will continue to be my focus over the next 3 or four weeks. There is a TV show called Operation Transformation that is on at the minute where a number of people try to lose weight over six weeks by eating differently and exercising more. I thought that it would be a helpful motivational boost for me to follow the show so I'm cutting out all the bad food and to sticking to a 1500 calorie diet until it ends in a few weeks. I'm also exercising at least 30 minutes a day. I'm doing quite well at the minute and haven't had any mad binges which actually was one of my new year's resolutions (to not go on any mad binges and to have a healthier relationship with food).

I've found that I'm struggling with some of my other resolutions because a lot of my focus and energy is going to losing weight and getting in shape. Productivity wise, I've been struggling since I started the diet. My blog posts have gotten a little less regular in the last week and I find that I keep putting off editing a new video to go on my channel. Hopefully, I can sort this out and find a way to stay on schedule and continue my diet. This would probably be much easier if I could somehow manage to achieve one of my other resolutions; getting up early.

I can honestly say, flat out, that I haven't once gotten up at 7 and stayed up since the new year started. A few times, I managed to get up at 7 but ended up falling asleep again an hour or two later. If I could manage to change this then I know the productivity thing would stop being a problem. I think I need to change my mindset about it. Sometimes I feel like it's all or nothing, that I need to be working on stuff all day, non-stop, or else I get nothing done. I need to be thinking more along the lines of a little progress each day, is better that working all day one day and not doing anything the next. If I could just get into the habit of doing a couple of hours each day while getting enough breaks throughout and having time to myself in the evenings then I feel like my life would be much more balanced.

What do you think? How do you balance time for fun and time for being productive in your day-to-day life? Also, do you have any tips for getting up early? Let me know in the comments section below. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, the please make sure to give it a love on Bloglovin or a +1 on Google Plus. Have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

What is the Best Conditioner for Dry or Damaged Hair?

Since colouring my hair purple last year (after bleaching it), my hair became extremely damaged and tangles really easily. I've been looking for something to combat the dryness and to get my hair in better shape for a while now but nothing I tried has helped very much. When I found this Henna Treatment Wax Intensive Deep Conditioner in a local pharmacy for only €4.99, I had to get it and see if it helped.
beauty formulas henna treatment wax intensive deep conditioner review
I'd heard from different people that this is supposed to be amazing and really restores your hair back to being healthy, shiny and soft. I also heard from my mom that it was a big thing to use years ago when she was young, that everyone was using henna treatments in their hair. So I started using it on my hair once a week. The way it works is that you use your shampoo as normal and then apply it like a normal conditioner, but then you leave it in your hair for a couple of hours, wrapped in a warm towel. Then you just wash it out like normal and dry your hair like you would usually do (I always allow my hair to dry naturally without using a hair dryer because my hair dries quite quickly and it's better for your hair not to use heat on it).

After the first use, I didn't notice any difference in my hair. It still tangled really easily and was quite frizzy. I've been using it for 2 or 3 months now once a week and it has made a difference to my hair. Not an amazing difference where my hair is silky smooth and never tangles but it is easier to manage now. It definitely restored my hair somewhat. I'd say it takes a least 3 or 4 uses before you see a noticeable difference, but then you might see a difference quicker if your hair isn't as damaged as mine.

This Henna Treatment Wax is by Beauty Formulas. As I already said, It was only €4.99 which is really affordable but I guess you get what you pay for. It did restore my hair somewhat but I don't think it is a revolutionary product that makes your hair instantly restored back to how it was before. So here is my question: What is the best conditioner out there for dry or damaged hair? Have you found one? Let me know in the comments below.

I really need to sort my hair out soon, both colour and quality. I'm planning on going back to brown soon because the colour seems to be ruining it and also, I don't really like the colour anymore, especially when it gets faded looking. I hope you liked this blog post. If you did, the please give it a love on Bloglovin or give it a +1 on Google Plus. I hope you have a great day, and I'll talk to you soon.

Best and Worst Dressed at the Golden Globes 2017

So awards season has come around again and I thought that for today's post I would show you my best and worst dressed from the Golden Globes 2017. So without further ado, here are my best dressed:

Best Dressed

Lily Collins
Lily Collins looked amazing in this girly Zuhair Murad gown. The light pink material paired with the bright red lip and her porcelain skin is absolutely stunning. She is my best dressed of the night.
Lily Collins wearing Zuhair Murad at the Golden Globes 2017
Mandy Moore
I loved this look on Mandy Moore. This stunning Naeem Khan dress with a plunging neckline and flowing cape looked gorgeous on her.  She was a very close contender for best dressed.
 Naomie Harris
This golden figure hugging dress looks perfect on Naomie Harris. She looks amazing.
Emma Stone
I love this gown on Emma Stone. The stars on the dress were inspired by the Film La La Land which she won an award for on the night. Also, her hair and makeup is gorgeous as always.
 Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell looked stunning in this glittery Jenny Packham dress with plunging neckline. I like how the plunge wasn't a typical V-neck and didn't make her look overly sexy or trashy. She still looked chic and classy even with a plunging neckline.
Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood rocked a different sort of look from her previous ones at the Golden Globes. Instead of wearing a dress, which she admits she loves to do and has nothing against, she wore a fitted Altuzarra suit to show women that they don't have to wear a dress if they don't want to, and she definitely pulled it off.
Millie Bobby Brown
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown looked really pretty in this sparkly Jenny Packham dress. Her entire look, from dress to hair to makeup was chic and elegant. A great look for the Golden Globes.
So those were all my best dressed of the night, now onto my worst dressed:

Worst Dressed

Anna Chlumsky
This frumpy dress did no favours for Anna Chlumsky. There was no real shape to the dress and I really don't like the colour on her.
Kerry Washington
From the waist up, I don't mind this dress, and she killed it with hair and makeup but the bottom half of the dress lets it down. I also really hate the weird detailing on the waist. Even with just that gone, I think the dress would be much better.
Janelle Monae
When I first saw Janelle Monae on the red carpet, I saw her from the waist up and thought, this girl is in the running for best dressed. Then I saw the entire look and was let down. I think if the bottom of the dress was full length then it would be fine but it doesn't work as a mullet dress. All things aside though, I have to say, her hair and makeup looks STUNNING!!
So those are my picks for best and worst dressed at the Golden Globes 2017. Let me know in the comments below who were your best and worst dressed of the night. My Top 5 Blog Posts From 2016

So this is my last blog post looking back on 2016, I promise. I figured I couldn't move forward in 2017 without sharing with you, my favourite blog posts from 2016. So here are my top 5:

2016 was the year that I discovered the brand Makeup Revolution and found out that they have some really great palettes. This is my blog post reviewing their Ultra Cream Contour Palette which is one of my favourite product reviews from the year.
2016 was also the year I started my What I Ate Today blog post series where I documented what I ate each day in the hope that you might find it interesting. These type of blog posts are some of my favourites to read on other people's blogs so I decided to try them myself. This is the first blog post in that series.
In this blog post, I tell you 5 simple ways to make yourself feel happier and more positive each day. This was one of my favourite posts to write from the year.
Another one of my favourite reviews I wrote in 2016. I love Benefit so I wanted to see if this mascara compared to my favourite mascara by them, They're Real. Read the full review to see what I thought and if I prefer it to They're Real.
Towards the end of the year, I posted a blog post that answered a question that I, and apparently a lot of other people, had been wondering; how do I add tags to my blog on Bloglovin. It confused me that some people had up to ten tags on their blog, I had only one, and some people had none. In this blog post, I tell you why.

So those are my top 5 blog posts from 2016. Now I'm moving on from posts about 2016, I'm sure you are sick of them by now. I hope you enjoyed this blog post! If you did, then please give it a love on Bloglovin or a +1 on Google Plus. It would mean a lot <3 I hope you have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

5 Things I Achieved in 2016

2016 wasn't a very productive year for me in terms of my blog and YouTube channel and generally, when I look back over the year, not that much really happened. Although I didn't accomplish that much in 2016, there were a number of things that I did achieve. So here are 5 of them:

- I hit 60,000 video views on my Youtube channel -
In the last month of the year, my channel reached 60K video views. I was excited just to reach 50K so 60K was amazing. The views on my channel more than doubled since last year which is really cool. I'm hoping to hit 100,000 views in 2017 if not more,

- I lost 20 pounds -
At the end of 2015, I realised that I had put on nearly 2 stone in weight. For lent in 2016, I decided to cut out all the junk food and that was the start of my weight loss. Once lent was over and I brought some of the junk food back into my diet, I started using calorie counting apps to try to lose the weight. I aimed to only eat 1500 calories each day (not always sticking to it) and that, along with exercise, lead me to lose 20 pounds over the year.

-I got a job at Benefit Cosmetics-
This one really felt like an achievement. It was such a long and hectic interview process. I am quite an introverted person so a regular interview is pretty scary for me. The Benefit interview process had so many stages and one of them included a lot of traffic stopping, which is when you approach someone in a shop, start a conversation with them and try to get them to come back to the Benefit counter with you. I'm thinking of writing a blog post about the Benefit interview process so let me know in the comments if you would be interested in that.

- I reached 1500 followers on Bloglovin -
When I first decided to write a blog, my goal for the number of followers I wanted to reach was 1000. I thought if I can reach 1000 followers then my blog will have been some sort of a success. Now I've surpassed it which is crazy. I never imagined reaching more than 1000 followers. I'm planning to hold a giveaway soon to celebrate reaching 1600 followers so look out for that.

- I Made Lots of New Friends -
I've never been the girl who has hundreds of friends. I've always struggled in social situations, and have had social anxiety in the past. It weird now even writing "in the past" because I really feel I've come on leaps and bounds when it comes to social anxiety in the last 3 or 4 years. I went from not being even able to order at McDonalds to traffic stopping and approaching strangers for Benefit. There are still situations that scare me or make me feel anxious but social anxiety affects me way less than it used to on a daily basis. Anyway, at the start of the year, I had only 3 friends (two of which live in a different county). Now I have 10+ people who I can message to hang out, go drinking, see a movie or whatever, and I feel like that is some sort of achievement considering how hard is has been for me to turn acquaintances into friends in the past.

So those are my big achievements from 2016. I've been looking back on the year as not such a great year but reflecting on it now, I feel like it wasn't so bad. What was something you achieved in 2016? No matter how big or small. Let me know in the comment section below. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did then please make sure to give it a love on Bloglovin or a +1 on Google Plus. I hope you have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

My Top 3 Moments of 2016

Since it's the beginning of 2017, I thought that for today's post I would reflect on the year just gone. Looking back, I'd have to say that 2016 wasn't a great year for me but let's not dwell on the negative. Although there were some bad times, there also was some good ones. So here are my top 3 moments of 2016:

- Getting a job at Benefit Cosmetics -
Towards the end of the year, I wound up getting a job as a Beauty Advisor at Benefit Cosmetics. It was just a Christmas job but since I was a teenager, I'd always dreamed about working for Benefit because it is one of my favourite makeup brands. It was a really cool experience and I'm glad that I got a chance to work for such a great company.

- Centenary trip to Dublin -
2016 marked the 100 year anniversary of the 1916 Rising in Ireland. I love Irish history so I really wanted to do something to mark the occasion. I ended up going to Dublin for a day with a friend and we went to all the major places where the rising took place. We went to the GPO which was the headquarters for the rebels of the rising. The GPO has a really amazing exhibition that includes real items and clothing that had belonged to some of the main figures of the rising. We also went to Kilmainham Jail where the leaders of the rising were executed. It was really cool but strange to be in all the places where these Irish historical events took place.

-Day Trip to the Beach-
For my mom's birthday, loads of my family went out to celebrate which was really fun but the next day, my mom, my nana, me and my two sisters all took a trip to the beach. It was a lovely sunny day, which is rare for Ireland haha.We all sunbathed and just had a laugh on the beach, and it was a really nice trip.

So those are my top 3 moments of 2016. Make sure to let me know your top moments of 2016 in the comments below. Also, If you liked this post, then please love it on Bloglovin or give it a +1 on Google Plus. I hope you are having a great day and I'll talk to you soon.
